ADULTS
ONLY, PLEASE. Previous experience with races and water stops is
a plus. Oversee all water stop operations including the following:
Prepare cups of water and/or fluid replacement beverages to athletes
Clean
up the area around your water stop after athletes deposit their cups
Maintain
an ample supply of full cups for the athletes
Pass
out fluids to the athletes as they run by your stop
Set
up and breakdown the equipment provided to your water stop
Water
stops are located on the run course, at the transition area and at the finish
line. Water stops are a great idea for groups or friends who want to work
together, have lots of fun and be right there supporting all of the athletes.
Grap a bunch of friends and sign up to take a water stop or just sign yourself
up and meet new friends!
Volunteers
should arrive approximately 30 minutes before the time listed above. Upon
arrival, you will check in at the volunteer tent and receive your T-shirt.
You can also grab a light snack and some coffee before boarding the bus/van
that will take you to your post. Following the race, we will pick you up
and bring you back to the transition area. You are then invited to join
us at Breezy Point Park for the post-race party and festivities.
PLEASE
NOTE: All
volunteers must be registered with the race in order to access Naval Station
Norfolk on race day. We will mail gate passes to you approximately 1-2 weeks
before the event. Unless you have DoD decals on your vehicle, you will be
required to have one of our gate passes to get on base. Therefore, to allow
gate passes to reach you by mail in time, please register before May 20th.
